RECORD OF PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

(Published 1st October 2020)

A guidance document for a return to restricted track and field competition in a Covid-19 secure setting (with new guidance for Cross Country added 18 September and links to Trail Running guidance added 1 October). This also includes the latest guidance for Trail Racing under the TRA permit system.

(Published 10th September 2020)

New restrictions on meeting as a group in England will come into force on Monday, 14th September 2020. The full text regarding how this will impact on athletics and running can be read here. So that we can continue with our club training sessions, the club must ensure we are operating in a ‘Covid-Secure’ environment. In order to meet these requirements, Compton Harriers must have a Covid Risk Assessment & Action plan in place that all members must follow when attending an organised club session. The Document will be issued by email to all members and can also be viewed online here.

CLUB TRAINING SESSIONS BACK ON: (Published 4th August 2020)

Our regular sessions have tentatively restarted after a few trial sessions and as numbers gradually increase, looking for a return to ‘normality’ (whatever that may be),  everyone must still be aware of the need to continue following social distancing advice … which has been sensibly observed by all to date. England Athletics has issued Covid-19 advice for Clubs, which includes the need for risk

assessment to produce a ‘Covid Secure Environment’ for members. The Club is currently studying this to see how it impacts on our activities and any actions we need to follow in order to comply. Updates will follow as and when agreed and members will be advised accordingly.

COMPTON DOWNLAND CHALLENGE - EVENT POSTPONED: (Published 17th May 2020)

Please accept our apologies for not making a formal statement until now about this year's Compton Downland Challenge (15th Aug) but we have been waiting to see how the current crisis unfolds.

In the interests of the health and well-being of the marshals, competitors and the good folks of Compton village we have decided to postpone this year's race. We have not made any decisions about when we will next stage the event, but with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic still causing widespread disruption and concern we don't anticipate doing anything until next year.

We will be contacting the competitors who have already entered the race directly to let them know of our plans and giving them the option of holding over their race entry fee or receiving a refund.

Compton Harriers would like to thank you for your interest in our event, whether you are new to the Compton Downland Challenge or have been a regular competitor over the years

Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you to the next Downland Challenge. Until then enjoy your running and please stay safe, especially when planning your own runs.

CLUB TRAINING SESSIONS - SUSPENDED: (Published 19th March 2020, revised 24th April 2020)

In line with guidance given by the Government and England Athletics on avoiding all but essential social contact, the Committee have sadly agreed that the sensible decision at this point in time is to cancel official Harriers training and club sessions until it is deemed safe to resume by the above bodies.

In the meantime we will continue to communicate with our members through our usual channels and advise as soon as the situation changes.  Stay safe, be sensible in your choice to continue exercising and please follow Government advice.

Please continue to exercise for both your physical and mental health over the coming weeks. Members who meet up during exercise should take extra care to avoid injury and ensure social distancing requirements are met for their own and others’ safety.

If any member is self-isolating and needs help, then please use our social media pages to connect and ask for help.

Let’s hope it's not too long before we all meet up again and the virus has been defeated!
